What are the waiting periods, and why are there waiting periods on dental insurance plans?
There is a six-month waiting period for basic services and a 12-month waiting period for major services. If you were to have a crown, for example, you would have a 12-month waiting period, whereas a simple filling would only have a six-month waiting period. A waiting period is the length of time your policy is in force before your benefits begin. Many insurance plans enforce some waiting periods, even dental insurance plans. Our plans have no waiting periods on preventive services such as cleanings and sealants.
