It’s Time to Think Sun Safety

Sun has damaging rays, whether it is summer or in the middle of winter. For your skin’s good health, think about protecting it from the sun’s ultraviolet radiation. Too much sun can increase your risk of skin cancer.

  • Use a sunscreen with sun protection factor (SPF) of 15 or higher. Apply every two hours and after swimming or sweating.
  • Limit sun exposure between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. when the sun’s rays are at their strongest and you’re most likely to sunburn.
  • Wear a wide-brimmed hat and sun-protective clothes outdoors.
  • Wear sunglasses outdoors during the day. (Protects your eyes, too!)
  • Remember, clouds don’t screen the ultraviolet rays.
