Save Your Vision
Do you spend lots of time at a computer? Here are some easy steps you can take to make sure your computer time doesn’t bother your eyes!
- Limit the time you continuously use the computer. Adopt the 20/20 rule – every 20 minutes look away for 20 seconds.
- Check for glare on the screen. The reflections of windows and lights shouldn’t be directly visible when you’re in front of the monitor.
- Keep blinking! This keeps your eyes moist.
- Reduce the amount of light in the room to match the computer screen. Try a dimmer switch on lights or use the lowest setting on a three-way bulb.
- Check the monitor’s height and distance from your eyes. The center of the screen should be 4 or 5 inches below eye level. The screen should be about 20 to 28 inches from your eyes. Proper screen position helps your neck and back, too!
