Preventing Colds Is in Your Hands!

It’s easy. It’s cheap. Washing your hands is a great way to help prevent the spread of infections such as colds, flu, and even hepatitis A and meningitis.

Wash your hands with soap for 15 seconds scrubbing well and then dry them:

  • After blowing your nose, and coughing or sneezing in your hand.
  • After touching an animal or things close to an animal.
  • Before, while, and after you work with food.
  • Before you eat.
  • After using the restroom.

Keep in mind, others may not wash as often as recommended. If someone in your home or workplace is sick, it’s a good idea for you to wash more often. An alcohol-based hand sanitizer is a good substitute for washing.
