Your Feet – Engineering Marvels

taking care of your feetThe feet include a quarter of the body’s bones – 26 in each! The bones and the 107 ligaments in our feet absorb tons of pressure as we walk each day. We should wiggle our toes and let them take a bow! Because of their workload, our feet are easily injured. These tips can help you keep your feet healthy:

  • Check your feet periodically. Don’t ignore problems and pain.
  • Wash your feet regularly and dry them well.
  • Trim toenails straight across, but not too short.
  • Make sure your shoes fit. Replace worn shoes. Buy shoes later in the day when your feet are bigger.
  • Don’t wear the same pair of shoes every day.
  • Use sun block outdoors when in bare feet or sandals. Wearing sandals can help prevent cuts and infections.
