Ideas for Protecting Your Eyes
They’re called the windows to the soul! And like windows, your eyes can be damaged if not properly cared for. There are ways to protect your soul’s windows year round!
Protective eyewear can prevent 90% of injuries. You may wear eye protection on the job, but more than 40% of eye injuries happen at home while doing things like home repairs, yard work, cleaning, and cooking. Keep a pair or two of safety glasses* that can be shared – and use them.
Another 40% of eye injuries are caused by recreational activities. Different sports call for different eye protection. Regular eyeglasses may not provide enough protection.
Protect your eyes from UV rays – even in winter. For yourself and your children, choose sunglasses that block 100% of UV rays. Just because glasses are dark or expensive doesn’t mean they protect well. Check the label. If your contacts have UV protection, sunglasses are still recommended. A broad-brimmed hat can also help protect your eyes. Protects your face, too!
